Handcuffed man escapes from Lima police during arrest

LIMA — The Lima Police Department is on the lookout for a man who escaped police custody Friday after being arrested.

At 5 p.m. Friday, officers responded to reports of a domestic violence incident in the 700 block of West Kibby Street. Upon arrival, they determined that Derrick D. Williams, 32, of Lima, was the aggressor in the incident and placed him under arrest.

After he was secured in handcuffs, Williams escaped the grasp of a police officer and escaped on foot with his hands still cuffed behind his back. He was hit by one taser probe in an attempt to incapacitate him, but he still managed to escape.

He was last seen in an alley between Kibby Street and South Shore Drive. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans at the time of his arrest. While the photograph provided by police shows Williams with a beard, he currently does not have one.

Anyone with information as to Williams’ whereabouts is advised to call 9-1-1 immediately. Police are urging the public not to approach Williams upon discovering his location.
