Lima Police looking for shooter

LIMA — Police are looking for a man who shot a 14-year-old boy early Friday morning.

The boy, whose name was not released, was shot in the leg while walking in the 700 block of Madison Avenue at 2:36 a.m. Officers were called to 807 Madison Ave., where the boy was, Lima Police reported.

The boy was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center with a wound that is not life threatening, police reported.

Police are not sure why the incident occurred and do not know the identity of the shooter. What detectives know is the boy was walking when he was approached by an unknown man who pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and shot the boy once.

The suspect then ran away and was not found. The suspect was described as wearing all black clothes and over 6 feet tall.
