No one injured after living room fire at Lima duplex

LIMA — A living room fire resulted in tens of thousands of dollars in damage at a Lima duplex Sunday.

At 4 p.m. the Lima Fire Department was notified of a fire at 1142-1144 E. Catalpa Ave., with the fire contained on the 1142 side. Three adults and five children were in the residence at the time of the fire and all made it out safely, according to Fire Department officials. Firefighters remained at the scene until 5:30 p.m.

Initial damage estimates were set at $18,000 for the structure and $2,000 for the contents, as there was smoke damage throughout that side of the duplex. The cause of the fire was still unknown late Sunday. The American Red Cross was called in to assist the residents.

The building is owned by Milton Webb of Webb Apartments.
