Pupils from 6 Lima schools qualify for EdChoice scholarships

COLUMBUS — Students at several buildings in the Lima City School District will be eligible for Educational Choice Scholarships, according to information released by The Ohio Department of Education on Wednesday.

Freedom Elementary, Heritage Elementary, Lima North Middle School, Lima Senior High School, Lima West Middle School and Unity Elementary all were named to the final list of EdChoice-eligible schools for the 2016-17 school year. Students attending these schools are eligible to apply for an EdChoice Scholarship to be used toward tuition at a participating private school of their choice.

The EdChoice Program provides students from underperforming public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools. EdChoice scholarships are worth up to $4,650 for students in grades K-8 and up to $6,000 for high school students.
