Man facing prison in Kalida bomb threat

OTTAWA — A Lima man who made a bomb threat at Kalida Manufacturing faces up to 18 months in prison when he is sentenced Jan. 6.

Thomas O. Hollingsworth Jr., 23, pleaded guilty to inducing panic, a fourth-degree felony. Prosecutors plan to ask for $9,079 in restitution. The charge of making false alarms, a third-degree felony, was dismissed in exchange for the plea.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call June 24 stating there was a hostage situation and that a bomb was at KMI at 6:55 a.m. When the 911 operator began questioning the caller, the caller claimed to be a terrorist and hung up. The operator determined the call was made from inside the factory on a non-activated cellphone, an old phone disconnected from service except for 911.

After a short investigation, detectives arrested Hollingsworth.
