Elida issues a boil water alert

ELIDA — The village of Elida issued a boil water alert until further notice for people living south of East Road, including Chestnut Run and Fox Run.

The water department experienced difficulties while performing maintenance on water lines Monday. The alert is for any water used for drinking and cooking, the village said in a written statement.

If water is cloudy or contains particles, strain it through a clean, tightly woven cloth into a clean container. Boil rigorously for 20 minutes, then allow it to cool before use. To improve the taste, add a pinch of salt per quart or pour the water back and fourth from one clean container to another to aerate the water.
