Wapakoneta car crash leaves 1 dead, building partially collapsed

WAPAKONETA — An accident early Sunday left a 19-year-old Wapakoneta man dead after crashing his car into a building, causing a partial collapse.

According to the Wapakoneta Police Department, at 3:45 a.m. Dakota Rostorfer was driving east on Auglaize Street when he lost control and went off the right side of the roadway, striking a vehicle in the west lot of Mike Swaney Buick/GMC, then running into the building. The impact of the crash caused the building to partially collapse.

Rostorfer was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by Auglaize County Coroner Dr. Thomas Freytag. No one else was in the vehicle and there were no other injuries.

The accident remained under investigation Sunday evening. Auglaize Street between Depot and Seltzer streets was closed indefinitely because of cleanup efforts.
