Ohio hunters tally 22,256 deer on first day of deer-gun season

COLUMBUS — Hunters checked 22,256 white-tailed deer on the opening day of Ohio’s deer-gun hunting season Monday, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Ohio’s deer-gun season remains open through Sunday. New this year, an additional two days (Dec. 28 and 29) have been added to increase the opportunity for people to hunt with firearms.
