Fire causes damage to Lima home

LIMA — The Lima Fire Department responded to a fire at 326 S. McDonel St. at 11:09 a.m. Wednesday.

Greg Kirkendall, with the Lima Fire Department, said roofers were on the house when they received a call of the fire. The fire started between the porch ceiling and the porch roof. The roofers were able to get off of the roof, and there were no injuries. The resident of the home was not home during the fire.

The fire extended into the second floor of the home and attic. Firefighters were on the scene until 12:25 p.m.

Estimate of the damage was $15,000 to the home and $500 to the contents in the home. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The home is valued at $33,000 and owned by Robert N. Starr Jr., according to records from the Allen County Auditor’s Office.
