Police agencies announce ‘Lights for Lives’ campaign

FINDLAY — In the spirit of cooperation, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has proposed regional law enforcement agencies work together in a multiagency effort.

“Lights for Lives” is a cooperative, multijurisdictional enforcement campaign focused on officers activating their overhead lights and stopping as many vehicles that have committed traffic violations to save as many lives as possible.

Lights for Lives began at 6 a.m. Tuesday and will run until 6 a.m. Thanksgiving Day. During this 48-hour period, officers from law enforcement agencies in northwest Ohio will be focusing on aggressive traffic enforcement, such as safety belt, impaired driving, distracted driving, failure to yield, and other crash-causing violations.

Participating law enforcement agencies include those in Allen, Hardin, Putnam and Van Wert counties.
