DELPHOS — A 17-year-old Delphos St. John’s student with aspirations of becoming a famous singer will have the opportunity to make his dream a reality next month when he auditions for talent agents at the ARTS Showcase in Orlando, Florida.
Aaron Schnipke was one of 250 children, teens and young adults in the U.S. chosen to audition for the ARTS, which stands for Applause Rising Talent Showcase.
“It was probably one of the best feelings in the world,” Aaron said about being chosen to audition.
In order to be chosen for the ARTS, Aaron had to first audition for a national talent scout in Lima with some 20 other people.
Now that he’s been selected, Aaron must prepare for a five-day open audition for agents, talent scouts and casting directors in the music, acting, dance and modeling industries. If an agent enjoys Aaron’s audition, he will be chosen to interview with them one-on-one.
While Aaron is hoping the audition will lead to a career in singing, acting or modeling, he hopes the overall experience will be beneficial and exciting.
“I’m just hoping to have a lot of fun,” he said. “When I go there, I just want to have a really good time and I hope I can make some people smile and laugh.”
Aaron also hopes his success will inspire others to pursue their dreams.
“I want to show people that it is possible and that things will happen if you actually work hard for it,” he said.
Since he was selected for the Arts audition about a month ago, Aaron has spent every day preparing for the audition.
“My family have all been involved in helping me out, so that’s been great,” he said.
The journey to achieving his dreams is not cheap, however. Aaron said the trip to Orlando will cost about $2,000, not including hotel fees and the cost of gasoline to get there.
As a result, Aaron is looking for local businesses to sponsor his trip. He has one sponsor, Case Mowing Service in Delphos, but he is searching for more.
