Wapak man released from hospital after being struck by vehicle

ST. MARYS — A man was treated and released from a hospital after being struck by a vehicle Friday morning in Auglaize County, according to the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.

At 2:27 a.m. Friday, the sheriff’s office was alerted by Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys that Brandon Hurles, 27, of Wapakoneta, was being treated after he reported being struck by a vehicle. Further investigation found that the incident occurred earlier that morning on Brown Road, south of Middle Pike and east of Wapakoneta.

The driver was identified as Cassandra Helmstetter, 26, of St. Marys who, according to the sheriff’s office, has a relationship with Hurles. Helmstetter and her vehicle were located later at a residence in Celina.

The incident remains under investigation, and no arrests have yet been made. The Celina Police Department assisted with the investigation.
