Lima man arrested after fleeing from traffic stop

LIMA — A 19-year-old Lima man is in custody for outstanding warrants after a traffic stop late Thursday night.

At 11:48 p.m. Patrolman Zane Slusher stopped a vehicle in the 900 block of Faurot Avenue for an equipment violation. The passenger of the vehicle, Marquivious Monroe, then fled from the vehicle and was located at the intersection of Baxter and Spring Streets, where he was taken into custody. Upon searching the area where Monroe ran, officers located a .22-caliber handgun.

According to the Lima Police Department’s Facebook page, Monroe first attempted to give officers a false name before his true identity was determined. Monroe had outstanding warrants from July for obstructing official business, resisting arrest and drug possession. He is being held in the Allen County Jail and will be arraigned today in Lima Municipal Court.
