COLUMBUS GROVE — As many as 13 feeder pigs died after a crash on state Route 12, just east of Columbus Grove.
The incident was reported just before 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The truck was carrying the pigs to be “processed” at a plant in Indiana when the tractor-trailer apparently took a turn too fast and overturned, crushing the pigs under its weight, said Mark Brecht, a deputy with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the tractor-trailer, Thomas Alan Ray Logan Sr., 32, of Paulding, was taken to the Putnam County Ambulatory Care Center in Glandorf. He suffered minor injuries, Brecht said.
The truck was carrying 172 pigs.
