Tenderloin trailer considered total loss after fire

LIMA — A concession trailer gearing up for the Harrod Pork Rind Festival caught fire, completely destroying the apparatus.

The Perry Township Fire Department was called to the scene at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at 1808 St. Johns Avenue, Lima.

The owner of the trailer plugged in the trailer when the plug electrically short-circuited and caught fire, said Perry Township Fire Department Chief Rick Phillips.

The tenderloin trailer “has a long history at the Allen County Fair,” Phillips said.

Though he couldn’t remember the name of the tenderloin vendor, he said the trailer is orange and black in color and was situated near the pony rides at the fair each year.

The trailer was insured for $18,000 and is considered a total loss, Phillips said. There were no reported injuries.

The home is registered to Jesse and Lavatis Morris, according to the Allen County Auditor’s website. The fire did not cause any damage to its surroundings.
