Deputies investigating bomb threat at SpartanNash

LIMA — Sheriff deputies with bomb-sniffing dogs are at SpartanNash searching the warehouse after a bomb threat was made, Sheriff Sam Crish said today.

The warehouse has been evacuated, Crish said.

SpartanNash’s local distribution center is at 1100 Prosperity Road, just off Neubrecht Road. The company is a food distributor, including the largest for the U.S. military commissary and exchange in the world.

There are 260 employees at the Lima location.

The local facility has an on-site repair garage, truck-wash facility and a fueling center to support the transportation fleet. Local truck drivers at the company log 5.5 million miles each year, primarily in Ohio and Michigan but also in nearby states.

The Lima facility is 497,000 square feet of warehouse and offices that house a grocery, meat, dairy and frozen products operation. The company’s headquarters is in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
