LIMA — The Shawnee Optimist Club named Mark Biedenharn as its “Officer of the Year” for his hard work and dedication to the Shawnee Township Fire Department.

Biedenharn has been with the fire department for 19 years and his humbled by his recognition.

His job can be “very hectic, very busy, but there are days where we’re waiting on a call that never happens,” he said.

The award was given at the club’s monthly meeting today.
