Bernacchi was born Sept. 14, 1927 in LaPorte, Indiana to Geno and Bruna Bernacchi. On July 18, 1953 he married Eva Berdene Bernacchi who died Nov. 18, 2019.
He has two children, Ava (Paul) Mullenhour and Gina Bernacchi, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Bernacchi is a World War II Navy veteran. He is also a retired vice president of A.O. Smith. Bernacchi’s interests include being part of the Honor Flight, gardening, cooking, family and spending time with his dog, Teddi.
