100th birthday: Mildred Luquette

LIMA — Mildred Roberta Luquette is celebrating her 100th birthday with a girls’ trip to the casino followed by cake and ice cream with the family.

Luquette was born Aug. 23, 1924 in Mulberry, Kansas to Robert and Archie (Sullivan) McIlwrath. On Oct. 26, 1946, she married Louis Luquette Jr., who died in June of 1977.

Luquette has two children, Lynda (Jay) Wright of Lima and Jill (Robert) Smith, of Toronto, Ohio. She has four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Luquette was a member of Fleet Reserve and the Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from Kmart and was an active member of the Senior Citizens, where with other members she went on many trips. Mildred enjoys spending time with her family and Swedish weaving. She is known for her world famous peach pie and her cutthroat domino skills.
