Mark Figley: FEMA response shows ineptness of Biden-Harris

As rescue and recovery missions continue following Hurricane Helene, the conduct of the Joe Biden/Kamala Harris regime has been an utter disgrace.

During a recent press briefing, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced the federal government lacks the funds to fully respond to the disaster.

Perhaps this is due to the fact that Joe and Kamala have directed more than $1 billion toward funding the constant influx of illegal immigrants. This is according to America First Legal.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp blistered the administration for its pathetic response in his state, claiming that while 90 counties suffered devastation, the government only declared emergency declarations in 11.

And while FEMA’s presence on the ground in many affected areas is minimal, it is reportedly interfering with private efforts at assistance. Examples range from outright restricting help, delaying authorization for action and literally confiscating non-governmental supplies.

As Tim Kennedy of Save Our Allies so aptly put it, “They’re in the way,” even to the point where federal employees have booked so many hotel rooms that none are available for hurricane survivors.

Meanwhile, military veterans and locals have joined together to provide search and rescue and supplies through the use of civilian helicopters, UTVs and ATVs.

This is an evil and twisted agenda to say the least, characterized by FEMA’s own website which prioritizes Diversity Equity and Inclusion over unbiased disaster assistance. It’s enough to make one ask whether the federal government truly cares as people in isolated areas are likely still dying.

Meanwhile, America’s pretender-in-chief, Biden, is absent on the sidelines. Faced with the death of hundreds, thousands more left homeless and untold others left stranded without power, food and water, Biden displayed a cruel and stunning lack of indifference in saying, “They’ve got everything they need. They’re very happy across the board.” So touching.

For her part, Harris has continued to campaign and fundraise for president throughout the Helene disaster, while finding time to post a photo on “X” showing her on the phone with FEMA head Deanne Criswell. How’s that for inspiration?

On top of the $1 billion plus delegated to illegal immigrants, Biden and Harris have kept the war in Ukraine gravy train rolling to the tune of some $200 billion. At the end of the day, has there ever been an administration so out of touch with the citizens it is sworn to represent? Is this a case of the regime turning its back on victims who are predominantly conservative supporters of Donald Trump? It’s at least an America last philosophy to the very core.

For those who deny that politicization plays any part in FEMA’s disastrous response to Hurricane Helene, we are left with the explanation that the federal government is simply inept and incapable of fulfilling its basic responsibilities as it seeks more and control of our lives.

This is a trend which will only continue to grow if Democrats capture the White House in November. When disaster strikes, ordinary citizens have shown time and again that when they come together with a common purpose, they truly make a difference. The government, in its sheer arrogance, shows up with too little, too late, while trying to prove that it alone has the answers.

It’s time for Americans across the political spectrum to wake up to this truth. The solutions to our problems reside within us.
