In response to Carole Daley’s letter, “Local Democrats must do a better job,” yes, the Allen County Democratic Party can be better, and that is why I have become regularly involved to help make it better.

It is quite painful to be a professional economist and be preached to about “the economy,” especially if you have dedicated your time to studying how prices are determined in markets. Consider a few of the markets that are contributing to the increases in consumer prices.

I read the Oct. 21 article on the Birch Solar decision, “Board denies Birch Solar Project.” It is important for your readers to understand that the Ohio Power Siting Board ruled that “the record is uncontroverted as to the determination that Birch Solar’s application satisfies the statutory requirements… in every respect except as to whether the Project serves the public interest, convenience, and necessity.”

Night descends as the leaves whip across the ground with a sense of foreboding that something sinister is around. Something alluring yet rife with fear, and it just seems like something evil is near.

Election Day is slowly creeping upon us. Our best bet for chief justice of the Ohio Supreme Court is the Honorable Justice Sharon L. Kennedy.

The midterm election boils down to four key issues, plus freedom.

The Democratic Party in Lima is pathetic, I’ve been back in Lima for 25 years. At no time has the Democratic Party contacted me or attempted to “get out the vote.” The only thing I receive from them is a flyer announcing a dinner with a donation; they don’t even return phone calls when I’ve left messages.

I was just watching the morning news, and there was a small segment on Ian and the damage it did. But the big news of the day was the Jan. 6 investigation of Donald Trump and the riots at the Capitol. I wonder if the people in Florida really care about Jan. 6.

The Putnam County Council on Aging has a long history of providing vital services to Putnam County residents, age 60 and better, enabling them to remain independent in their own homes. The services offered include transportation for medical appointments and essential errands, chore services, outreach by a licensed social worker, fall prevention classes, a medical equipment loan closet, aging-in-place home assessments and so much more.

I write this letter asking that people vote “yes” to pass Issue 1.
