WAPAKONETA — Friday’s St. Marys at Wapakoneta Western Buckeye League game will include a Purple Out to raise awareness and funds to fight lupus.

Fans of both teams will participate by wearing special shirts and taking part in a gift card raffle.

Wapak student Ali Wayman, who at 15 is the current Miss West Central Ohio Most Outstanding Teen, will be on hand to sell and autograph a book she wrote when she was 7-years-old called “The Brave Little Girl Goes to the Hospital.” Proceeds from the book sales will be going to Cincinnati’s children’s hospital to help raise funds to finish validating a test that will make diagnosing Central Nervous System Lupus much easier. Wayman, who will be competing for Miss Ohio Most Outstanding Teen in June, was first diagnosed with systemic lupus when she was 6-years-old. She also now has thyroiditis and sjogrens disease.

After the conclusion of the game, Wayman’s hip hop team from The Dance Centre will perform.
