LIMA — The Honoring Our Native Heritage Powwow will be Saturday and Sunday at the UAW hall.

Terri Brewster, one of the event organizers, explained the event is now in its sixth year.

“It’s just a way to come and learn all about Native Americans,” Brewster said. “We have a lot of natives that are in regalia, and they do the different traditional dances.”

The co-host drums are Sky Hawk and Southern Singers. The head dancers will be Justin Kwascigroh and Shawnee Waters. The announcer is Brian Darst, the head veteran is Shawn Reilly, and the arena director is Aaron Stevens.

A variety of nations will be represented at the event, which is held once a year. People travel from all over the United States, Brewster said, with people coming from as far away as Utah.

The powwow will also include crafts made by Native Americans and ethnic foods such as buffalo burgers, tacos, fry bread and corn soup.
