ONU women nab 17th victory of season

ADA — The Ohio Northern women’s basketball team cruised to a 60-31 victory over Heidelberg, Wednesday evening at the ONU Sports Center.

The Polar Bears improved their record to 17-5 overall and 13-2 in Ohio Athletic Conference action, while Heidelberg fell to 9-13 on the season and 7-8 in the OAC.

Northern was led by senior Jordan Kimes who scored a game-high 13 points and pulled down a game-high eight rebounds.

Kimes is now 20 points away from her 1,000th career point as a Polar Bear.

Junior Karissa Steffas and sophomore Britt Lauck, a Shawnee graduate, chipped in eight points apiece for Northern.

UNOH 81, Concordia 63

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Sammi Dervisevic had 21 points and Shakeia Salters and Madison Coldren scored 12 each for the University of Northwestern Ohio. Coldren also had seven rebounds. The Racers are now 13-14 overall and 11-8 in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Heidelberg 75, ONU 71

TIFFIN — A ONU rally came up short as the Polar Bears fell to Heidelberg at the Seiberling Gymnasium.

The Polar Bears fell to 10-12 overall and 5-10 in the OAC while Heidelberg improved to 10-12 on the season and 6-9 overall.

Sophomore Konnor Baker, an Ada grad, led Ohio Northern with 12 points.

Bluffton University 55

CINCINNATI — A 3-pointer by Joel Scudder with eight seconds remaining proved to be the game-winner. Thayne Recker had 19 points and eight rebounds for Bluffton. Joshua Woodrich (13) and Austin Rohde (11) also scored in doubel digits for the Beavers.

ANN ARBORT, Mich. — Lawrence Jackson had 22 points and nine rebounds and Aaron Cross (16) and Ed Jenkins (15) also scored in double digits for the Racers, who improved to 21-6 overall and 16-3 in the WHAC.
