LIMA — The Lima Symphony Orchestra will step outside the norm with its “Down on the Farm” annual family concert Sunday at Veterans Memorial Civic Center.

“A lot of times, kids are not just used to sitting down and listening to music,” said LSO director Elizabeth Brown. “This show attracts a lot of our regulars, but it is also designed to have lots of activity so younger people can enjoy it, too.”

The family-aimed event will feature country tunes, square dancers and banjo players. The Liberty Arts Magnet Touring Company will also join the orchestra.

Prior to the concert, a petting zoo featuring both farm and exotic animals will be available for attendees at the Civic Center.

On Saturday, the LSO will host a free KidStuff program at the Lima Public Library. Kids can create their own musical instrument, which they can use to play on stage for one song during the concert. All children bringing their instrument to the concert will be admitted for free with a paying adult.
