Tammy Williams, who led Lima Senior to its only appearance in the girls state basketball tournament in 1989, will have her jersey retired at halftime of the Spartans boys basketball game on Tuesday night against Toledo Whitmer.

The 5-foot, 7-inch guard is the No. 2 career scorer in Lima Senior girls basketball with 1,453 points. She held the top spot until Indiya Benjamin passed her last season.

Williams was first-team All-Ohio in Division I as a senior when she averaged 23.3 points a game. The Spartans were a state semifinalist that year and were No. 6 in the Associated Press state rankings.

She played in college at DePaul University, where she was named Great Midwest Conference Player of the Year in 1993. She led the Blue Demons in assists and steals as a junior and senior and was their top 3-point shooter as a senior.
