LIMA — The Lima Area League of Women Voters will host an informational meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Red Cross Chapter House, with the theme being “The Political Health of Lima/Allen County.”

“We will be presenting a panel of local office holders of a variety of sorts,” forum co-chair David Adams said. “We will be taking its temperature and measuring its blood pressure, you might say.”

The panel will be made up of Lima City Council President John Nixon, Allen County Board of Elections Director Ken Terry, Allen County Commissioner Jay Begg and Jim Link, the clerk of court for Lima Municipal Court.

“It is an open meeting, and we expect to have a lot of conversation between participants and panelists,” he said. “The panelists are not preparing to lecture to us, but it will be an interactive event.”

Forum organizers hope to tackle such issues as voter apathy and participation in the local political process.

“There was a case in Beaverdam an election or two ago where you couldn’t find anyone to run for office,” Adams said. “It doesn’t suggest that the political climate is very healthy.”

There is no cost to attend the forum and refreshments will be served. For information, contact David Adams at 419-773-9140 or by email at [email protected].
