Students receive certification
Four juniors in Lima Senior High School’s Automotive Technology program have passed their Automotive Service Excellence certification test: Matt Compston, Trey Fair, Logan Sheets and Josh Johnston.
Support group meets
The Your Kids First Parent Support Group will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, in the library at South Science Technology Magnet School, 755 St. Johns Ave. The support group, created last school year, is for parents of children with special needs.
Students of the month
The following were Crestview Middle and High School January Students of the Month: (seventh grade) Michael Joseph, (eighth grade) Hannah Bouillon, (ninth grade) Amber Lichtenberger, (10th grade) Tommi Andersen, (11th grade) Noah Daugherty and (12th grade) Lauren Schmid.
Allen East’s seventh and eighth grade January Students of the Month were Ethan Boday and Ethan Reichenbach.
Joel Siefker was selected as the January Student of the Month at Bluffton High School.
County science fair students recognized
At the Putnam County Science Fair on Saturday, six students earned a perfect score for their projects including Makenna Ricker, of Jennings; Logan Clark and Kerri Ellerbrock, of Glandorf Elementary; Zach Von der Embse, of Kalida; Karenna Langhals, of Sacred Heart Home School; and Claire Eiden, of SS. Peter and Paul.
MathCounts competition this weekend
The Lima Society of Professional Engineers will hold its 32nd annual MathCounts competition at Elida Middle School starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Eight local teams will be competing.
Van Wert kindergarten registration
Kindergarten registration at Van Wert City Schools for the 2015-16 school year will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 23 to Feb. 27 at the Superintendent’s Office in the S.F. Goedde Building, 205 W. Crawford St., Van Wert. Enter through the main entrance doors of the S.F. Goedde Building located on Crawford Street.
Preregistration begins Monday at http://vanwertcougars.net. Paperwork can be dropped off, mailed, faxed or emailed beginning Feb. 23 at the S.F. Goedde Building.
Supporting the arts
At the the Lima Chipotle on from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 18 people with the affiliated flier can show it and support The Elida High School Theatrical Program, with 50 percent the proceeds going to the program.
Van Wert open enrollment
Van Wert City Schools will permit students from other school districts in Ohio to apply and enroll in the district’s school system through “open enrollment” for the 2015-16 school year. Applications will be accepted beginning immediately on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date the application is received by the superintendent.
Applications must be completed and returned no later than May 30. Interested individuals may call or stop by the S.F. Goedde Building, Superintendent’s Office, located at 205 W. Crawford St. or call 419-238-0648. Applications may also be found on the website at http://vanwertcougars.net.
Evening with the arts
Lima City School’s “Evening With The Arts” will be Feb. 19, at the Allen County Museum, 620 W. Market St. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with performances beginning at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The district’s All City Band Concert will be held the same week at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18 in the Lima Senior High School auditorium.
Open house
Lima Central Catholic High School will host an open house for seventh-graders and their parents from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 3. Attendees will join current students in the classroom, learn about the placement exam, scheduling and financial assistance, extracurricular activities along with presentations on academics.
