The Ohio Northern University Office of International Services presents speaker Zohra Sarwari in the McIntosh Ballroom at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Sarwari’s speech is titled “No, I Am Not a Terrorist.”

On March 13, the University of Findlay’s Music Bach’s Concert series will host indie folk band The Mulligan Brothers. From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., the band will be filling the Atrium of the Alumni Memorial Union

Dr. Shawn Graves, assistant professor of philosophy at The University of Findlay, will address “Love, Justice and Global Poverty” at 6 p.m. March 16 in Winebrenner Theological Seminary’s TLB Auditorium.

Danielle Rhonemus, of Bluffton, will present at the 2015 Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Symposium to be held at Ashland University. Rhonemus is presenting her project titled “The Fantasy Inside Reality.” She will be presenting in the Myers Convocation Center Alumni Room from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. April 8.

High school junior and senior women visit OSU-Lima for the first ever STEM STEPS, a day filled with hands-on activities in various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) fields to encourage and stimulate an interest in science. Keynote speaker Dr. Nicole A. Nelson will present at 9 a.m. Friday in Science 165.

Four Bluffton University art students will display art they have created on campus during their senior exhibition, from Monday through March 20 in the Grace Albrecht Gallery in Sauder Visual Arts Center. The exhibit is free and open to the public, as is a reception for the artists from 2 to 4 p.m. March 15. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 5 p.m. March 14 and 15.

COURSES

Rhodes State College is hosting an annual IT/ET competition for students 9:30 a.m to noon Friday at James J. Countryman Building and Keese Hall.

Rhodes State College is offering a Basic Police Academy this summer. After successful completion of the Police Training Academy, students are qualified to take the required Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission certification test to be a peace officer in Ohio. The class sessions are scheduled from May 2 to Aug. 18. Application deadline is March 13. Academy orientations will take place on March 17 and 18.

Local teachers recognized

The Northwestern Ohio Education Association recognized two teachers from the Elida Education Association at the District’s Annual Awards Banquet held at the Findlay Country Club on Tuesday. William Kellermeyer was a recipient of the 2015 Promising Leader. This award recognizes individuals who within the first five years of their teaching career have shown initiative in their local association. Receiving a Local Service Award was Donna Peters for distinguished service for outstanding work for her local association.
