KOSSUTH — The Wapakoneta post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol investigated an accident that shut down state Route 66 briefly at 4:44 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the report, Megan Schmehl, 19, of St. Marys, was pulling out of a private drive near the intersection of Townline-Kossuth Road. Schmehl failed to see an approaching vehicle traveling north that was being operated by Kayla Rahrig, 32, of Spencerville. Schmehl struck the vehicle, causing disabling damage to both vehicles.

Rodney Kiefer with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the road was shut down less than 15 minutes.

Rahrig was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center with a minor injury.

Schemehl was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way from a private drive.
