YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State senior forward Heidi Schlegel, of Wapakoneta, has been named the Horizon League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 18, the conference office announced on Monday.
Schlegel, a graduate student who is studying Interdisciplinary Communications, earned the league’s weekly award for the second time in her career. She had season highs of 25 points and 18 rebounds as the Penguins beat in-state rival Cleveland State on Thursday at Beeghly Center. She made 10 of her 15 field-goal attempts and was 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.
