HARROD — The Allen East Education Association and the district’s school board have agreed to mediation over their ongoing contract dispute.
The meeting serves as a response to charges filed by the association against the district’s school board in February, after months of dispute between both parties. The charges accuse the board of unfair labor practices and refusal to bargain in good faith after it ended teacher salary negotiations in December.
Without the agreement, the school board would’ve had to file an affidavit by the end of the day Wednesday. If the mediation session on March 23 is unsuccessful, the State Employment Relations Board will assign a new affidavit deadline to the school board.
