Elida school board kicks off new year

The Elida Local Board of Education was straight to business during its first meeting of the year, Wednesday night.

The meeting served as a general election for board officers.

Jason Bowers was elected president. Jeff Chirstoff was voted vice president, as well as a member of the Education Policy Committee with Christine Ulrich. Pat Schymanski will be the education legislative representative and Brenda Stocker was voted the Ohio School Boards Association student achievement liaison delegate.

The remainder of the meeting was spent approving general budgets, funds and responsibilities for the coming year. Elida school board meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of every month for the rest of the year. The first of which will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 20 at Elida High School.
