LIMA — Two men were taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center after one was shot.
Johnathan G. Hofmann, 31, of Lima, suffered a single gunshot wound to the foot and Scott L. Suggs, 43, of Lima, was assaulted by two unknown people, detective Sean Neidemire with the Lima Police Department said.
Officers responded to a report of an assault with a firearm at 11:51 p.m. Tuesday at 225 S. McDonel St. in Lima. Neidemire said the two victims were inside the apartment building when two men they did not know entered the apartment.
Neidemire said the victims reported that once the suspects walked into the apartment, that’s when the assault began.
Neidemire said there was no known motive as the victims did not know the offenders. The incident does not appear to be gang-related. It is unclear if the incident was drug-related.
The incident is not connected to a shooting that took place Sunday evening, Neidemire said.
St. Rita’s Medical Center said both men were treated, then released.
