Snow, sleet, freezing rain expected Tuesday

According to the National Weather Service of Northern Indiana, the weather today is expected to cause some problems.

The precipitation is expected to start as snow in the morning, followed by sleet, followed by freezing rain. The freezing rain is expected to last one or two hours. After that period, the precipitation will change to rain as the temperatures rise. It is thought that the precipitation will turn to rain by 1 p.m.

There may be one to two tenths of ice accumulation.

Overnight and into Wednesday morning, there may be more snow. It is expected to be light.

Remember to use caution on overpasses, which ice before regular roadways, and watch out for minor flooding that may occur as drains and ditches are blocked by ice.

Trivia for the day: Sleet is like miniature hail, and the tiny ice particles may bounce when hitting the ground or your windshield. Freezing rain is liquid when it reaches earth and freezes into a glaze upon contact.
