LIMA — Day three of jury selection continued Thursday in the death penalty trial against a man accused of killing two people and starting a fire to cover it up.
Potential jurors to consider the case against Hager Church were called in for individual questioning to answer questions from their attorneys, primarily on their views on the death penalty and whether they would consider the case based on the evidence and the law.
Church, 30, is charged with two counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated arson in the June 14, 2009, house fire that killed Massie “Tina” Flint, 45, and her boyfriend, Rex Hall, 54. The fire was at a house at 262 S. Pine St.
Church is serving a life sentence with no chance parole for a separate killing in 2010. In that case, he beat a woman to death inside her home for a few dollars and costume jewelry.
