Fire claims Lima house Wednesday

LIMA — A Lima house caught fire late Wednesday night, and the flames damaged neighboring houses.

The fire began in a corner of the living room at about 10:44 p.m. at 619 N. West St. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the Lima Fire Department.

According to the Allen County Auditor’s website, the home is owned by Williams Shay, of Lima.

The house sustained about $32,000 in damage. The structure is valued at $36,900 on the auditor’s website.

The home was occupied, but details on the residents were not available Thursday.

It is unclear if the neighboring homes were occupied. The exterior of the homes were damaged from the heat of the fire.

The neighbor at 623 N. West St. sustained $7,500 in damage from the fire, and the neighbor 613 N. West St. sustained $5,000 in damage.

The Lima Fire Department was on scene until about 1:15 a.m. Thursday. There were no reported injuries.
