Boyer Street portion to be vacated for business expansion

LIMA — Lima City Council passed a resolution Monday to vacate the portion of Boyer Street between Findlay Road and Flanders Avenue to allow for the expansion of the gas station located there.

The resolution passed on its third reading after failing to gain a two-thirds majority during previous votes. Council members Jesse Lowe II, Todd Gordon and Derry Glenn voiced concerns that the business would expand sales of glass pipes and other items that could be used as drug paraphernalia.

Contractor Mike Flynn issued a written statement that the owners, Amazing Clark LLC, would operate this station under the Marathon brand, which prohibited the sale of these items. With this assurance, the council passed the resolution unanimously.

No timetable for construction was released during Monday’s council meeting.
