Chase brings arrest in Shawnee

LIMA — A man driving under suspension was involved in a police pursuit early Friday morning.

At 3:13 a.m. Friday at the 300 block of Spencerville Road, Shawnee Township Police pulled over Joshua A. Sexton, 39, of Lima for a speeding violation. He was initially traveling at 91 miles per hour.

Sexton took off in his 2006 Chevrolet Colorado, leading officers in a pursuit that lasted eight minutes. The Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit with Sexton’s speed during the pursuit varying between 80 and 100 mph.

Sexton struck a mailbox before stopping the vehicle on Grubb Road at Spencerville Road.

He is charged with speeding, operating a vehicle while impaired, driving under suspension and reasonable control. Sexton was driving under suspension in relation to a previous suspected OVI case.

He did not take a breathalyzer test.
