ADA — Jordan Kimes led the Polar Bears past Capital, 60-40, Saturday afternoon at the ONU Sports Center.
Ohio Northern improved to 13-4 overall and 9-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while Capital fell to 8-9 on the season and 4-6 in the OAC.
ONU used a strong first half performance from Kimes to propel them to victory.
The senior netted 10 of her total 12 points in the first half.
Carly Thomas and Shawnee graduate Britt Lauck both netted 10 points in the contest, and Lauck dished out a game-high four assists.
Ohio Northern is next in action Wednesday as the Polar Bears play host to Otterbein at 7:30 p.m. in the ONU Sports Center.
Bluffton 68, Anderson 43
ANDERSON, Ind. — Bluffton rode a 17-0 first half run to a convincing Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference win. The win pushed the Beavers to 7-3 in HCAC play (12-5 overall) . The loss put Anderson at 1-16 overall and 0-10 in conference play.
The Beavers were led by Taylor Whitaker with 14 points, 10 in the second half. Abby Jerger finished with a career-high 11 points to go with five rebounds. Freshman Macey Sheerer added 10 points and six rebounds. Jessica Boggan also added a career-high eight rebounds.
The Beavers hit the road again Wednesday as they play a 6 p.m. game at Defiance.

Anderson 84, Bluffton 61
ANDERSON, Ind. — The host Ravens improved to 8-9 and 7-3 in the HCAC while Bluffton fell to 8-9 overall and 4-6 in HCAC play.
The Beavers were led by Thayne Recker, who had 20 points and seven rebounds. Andrew Finley scored 11 and had six rebounds while Austin Rohde finished with 10 points off the bench.
The Beavers head to Defiance to match up with the Yellow Jackets at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Capital 69, ONU 65
BEXLEY — The Polar Bears fell to 8-9 on the season and 3-7 in the OAC while Capital improved to 5-12 on the season and 3-7 in the conference.
Lucas Pennington scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed two rebounds for ONU.
The Polar Bears’ Travis Feitshans and Joey DiOrio chipped in 10 points each

Defiance Invitational
DEFIANCE — Ohio Northern men’s and women’s teams took first place at Defiance College’s George M. Smart Center.
For the men, the distance medley team consisting of Kyle Wagner, Matt Molinaro, Andrew Harden, and Nathan Rosenbaum finished first in 3:28.11.
Molinaro, junior Brandon Ike, and sophomore Lucas Shumate, a Spencerville grad, also recorded first place finishes in there respective events.
Molinaro won the 800 meter in 1:57.40, Ike took first in the pole vault clearing a height of 4.15 meters, and Shumate won the weight throw with a pitch of 16.25 meters.
For the women, Delphos St. John’s graduate Gabrielle Metzner posted two ranked finishes, coming first in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.33 seconds, and fifth in the 200 meter dash in 27.73 seconds.
The 800 meter dash was won by Catie Huber, who completed the race in 2:22.88.
The distance medley team, which included Rebekah McCutchen, Raechel Moore, Ada grad Morgan Rouch, and Huber, finished in first place with a time of 13:26.19.
Gabrielle Heck and Kelly Wollenslegal took first and second place respectively in the pole vault.
Both athletes recorded vaults of 2.85 meters, while Heck won the jump-off.
Findlay Classic
FINDLAY — The University of Findlay men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams hosted the Findlay Classic during the weekend.
The Oilers got a first place finish from the women’s distance medley team which included Hardin Northern graduate Shelby Stump and finished with a time of 12:48.58. She was also a member of the winning 4×400 relay team which finished with a time of 4:04.14.
Findlay’s Kendra Averesch from Leipsic who took home first place in the weight throw at 58 feet, 9.25 inches. She also won the shot put with a toss of 52 feet, 2 1/2 inches.
The Oilers’ Lydia Guagenti, a Bluffton graduate, finished second in the pentathlon with 3,326 points. She also won the high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 8 inches.
The Findlay men’s distance medley relay team which included Ottawa-Glandorf graduate Matias Trampe-Kindt, senior and New Bremen’s Dillon Webster finished first place with a time of 10:27.19. Webster also won the 600 meter run with a time of 1:18.73 and was a member of the winning 4×400 meter relay team (3:20.87) .
In the weight throw, Waynesfield-Goshen grad Taylor Miller was second place (61 feet, 1/4 inch).
In the 5,000 meters, Bluffton University’s Ann Hairston (19:35.87) and Zach Bradley (16:03.99) finished fifth in their respective races.

CLEVELAND – The Polar Bears fell to 3-8 overall, while Case Western improved to 4-4.
Stephanie Brookens led the Polar Bears in the meet with a second place finish in the 200 free in 2:03.66, as well as in the 100 free in :57.21.

CLEVELAND — The Polar Bears’ record dropped to 7-2 overall, while the Spartans improved to 7-1.
ONU’s Logan Pfeifer won the 100 yard freestyle in 48.34 seconds and was second in the 50 yard freestyle, completing the race in 22.28 seconds.
