Several from area earn all-Ohio honors in D-III and D-IV

St. Henry’s Ryan Mikesell earned All-Ohio Division III first team honors and Lima Central Catholic’s Dantez Walton and Ottawa-Glandorf’s Noah Bramlage were second team selections by the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Mikesell, a 6-foot-7 senior, averaged 22.8 points during the regular season in leading the Redskins (22-3) to the district finals where they lost 45-44 to LCC. Bramlage, a 6-8 senior, averaged 20.2 points and led the Titans (19-7) to the regional semifinals where they lost 72-63 to the Thunderbirds.

Walton, a 6-5 junior, who averaged 16.4 points before the postseason, along with Tre Cobbs, a 6-foot junior, who averaged 13.5 points and was an honorable mention selection, are on the 25-2 Thunderbird squad that will play in a state semifinal against Dayton Chaminade Julienne (22-6) at 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Ohio State’s Value City Arena.

Delphos Jefferson 6-5 junior Trey Smith (27 ppg.) was named special mention.

In Division IV, New Bremen 6-3 senior Carson Manger, who averaged 20 points a game, received second team honors.

Marion Local 6-10 senior Luke Knapke, who averaged 12.7 points a game, and 5-10 Columbus Grove 5-10 senior Jace Darbyshire, who averaged 21 points a game, received special mention recognition.

Crestview 6-foot senior Connor Lautzenheiser (21.5 ppg.) and Upper Scioto Valley 6-foot senior Lane Hurley (20.4 ppg.) were named honorable mention.

In Division III, Carlton Bragg of Cleveand Villa Angela-St. Joseph High School was named the player of the year and Tom Hilgenberg of Coshocton and Jeff Lisath of Dayton Northridge were the co-coaches of the year.

The Division IV players of the year were David Dennis of Canal Winchester Harvest Prep, Mitchell Herron of Tuscarawas Central Catholic, Colton Linkous of New Madison Tri-Village and Corbin Linder of Wayne Trace.

Tyron Miller of Tuscarawas Central Catholic, Russ Swartz of Mogadore and Ray Zawadzki of Troy Christian were the D-IV coaches of the year.
