Ada, New Bremen, Van Wert all get wins

COLDWATER — Ada and New Bremen will play in the Division IV sectional final at 8 p.m. Friday at Coldwater High School after each got victories Wednesday night.

Ada’s four-point halftime lead held up as the ninth-seeded Bulldogs advanced with a 42-38 triumph over sixth-seeded Arlington. Blake Willeke had 14 points and Bayden Sautter scored 12 for Ada.

New Bremen saw its 10-point advantage after the first quarter shrink to 25-20 at halftime but the fifth-seeded Cardinals (12-10) outscored 10th-seed Fort Recovery (7-16) 20-14 the last quarter for a 64-44 win.

Division III

Van Wert 58, Carey 48

FINDLAY — Eighth-seeded Van Wert (7-15) outscored third-seeded Carey (18-5) in every quarter to earn a sectional final berth against fourth-seeded Liberty-Benton at 8 p.m. Friday at Findlay High School.

Connor Holliday had 22 points and Nick Keber scored 11 for the Cougars.

All-NWC

Jace Darbyshire of Columbus Grove has been named the Northwest Central Conference’s Player of the Year.

Joining him on the all-conference first team were Crestview’s Connor Lautzenheiser, Delphos Jefferson’s Trey Smith, Lincolnview’s Justis Dowdy and Spencerville’s Zach Goecke. Spencerville’s Kevin Sensabaugh was named the Coach of the Year.
