LCC wins 5-0 in boys tennis

LIMA — Lima Central Catholic opened its season with a 5-0 victory against Port Clinton on Friday.

Spencer Collins, Luke Buettner and Troy Hile were all singles winners and doubles teams of Logan Korzan and Sam Meredith and Ben Brinkman and Weston Young also triumphed.

Bluffton 9, Hanover 6

HANOVER, Ind. — Bluffton University saw a 6-0 lead disappear as Hanover knotted the score at six after six innings but the Beavers responded with three late tallies for a 9-6 win Friday. Bluffton remained atop the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference at 5-0 (12-5 overall), while Hanover dipped to 7-7 and 3-3 in the conference.

UNOH 5, Vanguard 4

COSTA MESA, Calif. — The University of Northwestern Ohio’s Kate Bondarenko and Vladica Djurdjevic at No. 2 doubles and Ana Lacerda and Lina Ramos at No. 3 doubles each won 8-6. Lacerda also won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 6 singles. Melena Lopez (6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles) and Djurdjevic (6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles) were also winners for the Racers.

Men’s tennis

Vanguard 6, UNOH 3

COSTA MESA, Calif. — Ronnie Myburgh got the University of Northwestern Ohio’s lone point in singles play with a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 win at No. 5 singles. The Racers’ Daniel Rueda and Thommy Johansson took a 9-8 win in No. 1 doubles and Myburgh and Akira Kuwada also won in No. 3 doubles.
