Wapak boys, girls win WBL titles

DEFIANCE — The Wapakoneta girls and boys teams won Western Buckeye League titles at Saturday’s meet at the Defiance YMCA.

In the girls competition, Wapak finished with 325 points followed by Ottawa-Glandorf (270) and Celina (198).

Wapak’s Josie Miller won the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Shawnee’s Aleah Hixenbaugh came in first in the 200 and 500 freestyles. Other individual race winners included Amanda Slechter (Celina) in the 200 IM, Sierra Sammons (Wapak) in the 100 freestyle, Kathryn Samuelson in the 100 backstroke and Mo Gray (Kenton) in the 100 breaststroke.

Ottawa-Glandorf won the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays while Wapakoneta finished first in the 400 freestyle relay.

On the boys’ side, Wapakoneta finished with 346 points followed by Shawnee (252) and Celina (221).

Wapak’s Charlie Sutton won the 50 and 100 freestyles. Other individual winners included Jared Fleagle (Celina) in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfily, Michael Johnston (Wapakoneta) in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and Luke Kleman (Ottawa-Glandorf) in the 500 freestyle.

Wapakoneta won the 200 freestyle and 200 medley relays and Shawnee won the 400 freestyle relay.

Lima Senior duals

LIMA — Ada defeated Lima Senior (50-41) and Lima Central Catholic (54-35) Lima Senior topped LCC 55-35 in the boys duals and the Ada girls topped Lima Senior 52-41 and Lima Central Catholic 54-29 and Lima Senior defeated Lima Central Catholic 50-34.

Katey Stuart (200 IM, 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke) and Abigail Dungan (200 and 500 freestyles) of Ada were multiple individual race winners.
