ELIDA — The Ford Model T was nicknamed “Tin Lizzie” so it was only appropriate that the Ford Model A have a nickname. It would become known as the “Baby Lincoln.” At the end of WWII, the Model A became a quick seller. In the late 1920s and early 1930s, the Ford Model A was one of the best selling cars in America. It was sporty, attractive, well-built and smooth running compared to the Model T. The Model A has been looked at as the working man’s dream come true. When first offered, the public’s appetite for a new car was voracious. Over its four-year run, there were 4.3 million Model A’s sold.
Bill and Linda Kovacek, of Elida, brought their 1931 Ford Model A to The Lima News’ Real Wheels Cruise-In. They have owned the vehicle 21 years. The car was originally owned by Grandma Kovacek! Kovacek says his best memories are going for rids in the rumble seat with his grandma and cousins and learning how to drive at the fairgrounds in Medina, OH with his uncle.
