LIMA —“We want your Nova to be the best car you ever owned,” read the sales brochure for the 1972 Chevy Nova. Chevy’s popular car was introduced as the Chevy II in 1961 for the 1962 model year. It was meant to be a third choice between the compact Corvair and the full size Chevrolet. The Super Sport option became available on the Chevy II Nova in 1963. The 1972 Chevy Nova was the third generation Nova. It was restyled in 1968 into a muscular design, and was an instant hit.
Dan Fifer, of Lima, brought his 1972 Chevy Nova SS to The Lima News’ Real Wheels Cruise-In. He has owned it for 15 years. He bought it in 1999 and it took him six years to restore it. Fifer says his favorite memories of the car are driving it for the first time after it was finished.
