KENTON — The Hardin County Historical Museum is holding the Parrot Morey Grand Ball Saturday.

The ball will be held at the National Guard armory on Main Street, Ohio’s oldest National Guard armory. It is being held in honor of Jacob Parrot and Delano Morey, former Kenton residents and recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor.

“We are excited to try something new,” said museum director Linda Iams.

Iams said board member Casey Lauger has attended similar events and brought up the idea to the rest of the board.

“We are hoping it will catch on,” Iams said. “There are a lot of people that follow this circuit. They travel around and go to events like this.”

The 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regimental Band will provide live music from the era. Iams said any formal or or business casual wear is acceptable, but that it is preferable that attendees wear clothes from the era. Casual clothes such as jeans, flip flops, shorts and tank tops will not be permitted.

Iams said an instructional class will be held from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the ball to learn the dances, and it comes with the price of a ticket.
