Local resident’s story on ‘Unshackled’

Local resident, Ron Kimmel’s life story is scheduled to play at 2 and 8:30 p.m. Feb. 15 on Pacific Garden Mission’s radio program “Unshackled.” The program airs on radio station WTGN.

Grant applications being accepted

Local grant applications will be accepted until March 18 by the Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo. The two grants available are for community development and for economic development. The funds are being made available through the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Those eligible for the up to $15,000 grants must be a 501c3 non-profit organization and demonstrate a grass-roots effort to break the cycle of poverty by empowering the poor within the Diocese of Toledo. Eligible counties include Allen, Crawford, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Richland, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert Wood and Wyandot counties. Focus on the Family endorses curriculum

The abortion recovery curriculum, “Concepts of Recovery The Journey” put out by Concepts of Truth International, has been endorsed by Focus on the Family. Concepts of Truth International is a non-profit organization that was founded by Dail and Millie Lace and offers not just post abortion recovery curriculum, but also has the International Helpline for Abortion Recovery and Prevention. Valentine’s dinner being offered

There will be a Valentine’s Dinner where attendees can choose either 5 or 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at First Friends Church, 210 S. Franklin St. The dinner will include choice of chicken breast or Swiss steak with choice of vegetables, rolls and dessert. The evening will include dinner, door prizes and the chance for one couple to win a romantic get-away to Don Hall’s Guest House, Hotel and Convention Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Special service for special people

The next Gentle Worship Service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 101 Perry St. The 30-minute service features subdued lighting and sound, large format worship aids and a consistent format to make church easier for those with developmental disabilities. Area Wapakoneta pastors take turns leading the service. The Rev. Pat Sloneker of Petersburg Parishes will be leading the service on Sunday. For details, call 419-738-2215.
