Sorry about distracted reaction

First Posted: 3/26/2015

I was a patient at St. Rita’s Medical Center on March 21, in the 5K area. The discharge nurse was there going over my instructions for going home when three Girl Scouts and their leader came to my room with a fleece blanket for me. I hope they somehow see or learn of this letter.

I so sincerely want to apologize for not switching my frame of mind from instructions just to them. I did tell them I’d eaten my Girl Scout cookies, and they were the best. I thanked them for the gift, and they smiled and left.

Those girls and their leader had taken the time to come to the hospital and ask the way up to my room and just got a smile and a thank you.

When you’re old, you aren’t as quick thinking. If only I had asked their names and troop number or their leader’s name. I wished I had taken the blanket out of the bag also while they were there. It is beautiful! It is adult size, beautiful bright-colored circles on dark blue, and the reverse side had puzzle piece design, and the knots were tied really neat. I helped tie one once, and I thought it was hard. I don’t think I’ve felt a softer blanket. It will be so cozy.

I know you left disappointed, girls. I pray the next time the person won’t be distracted that you do a kind deed for. Keep up the good work and again, my most humble apology.
