Comedian visits campus

The Ohio Northern University Freed Center for the Performing Arts will host comedian Dennis Regan at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14.

Regan has had multiple appearances on the “Late Show with David Letterman” and “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” as well as A&E’s “Evening at the Improv,” Comedy Central and Showtime. He wrote for “The King of Queens” from its sixth season to its ninth and final season.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, $10 for ONU faculty/staff and $8 for students/children. The Freed Center box office is open from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Phone orders are accepted by calling 419-772-1900. Presentation at Findlay

The University of Findlay will host a presentation with actor and writer Benjamin Busch at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Ritz Auditorium.

Dean’s list announced

ONU hosts event for potential students

Northern University will host Experience ONU Day on Feb. 11 for high school seniors.

The event enables participants to be fully immersed in campus life by attending classes, talking with students, meeting with faculty, and having lunch at the dining hall.

Bluffton University has slew of events planned

The university has released the information for a number of events on campus for the month of February. The events include:

Opening of “At the Mercy of the Muse,” featuring sculptures by Dan Chudzinski, Grace Albrecht Gallery, Sauder Visual Arts Center. Hours through March 1 are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 8.

Tuesday: C. Henry Smith Peace Lecture: “The Professor as Peacemaker: C. Henry Smith and the Mennonite Intellectual Tradition, 1920-1948,” by Dr. Perry Bush, professor of history at Bluffton, 11 a.m., Founders Hall.

Feb. 10: Cross-cultural experiences of Bluffton students who spent fall semester in Guatemala (11 a.m.) and in Washington, D.C., and Ireland (7 p.m.), both in Founders Hall.

Feb. 10, 12, 14: “The Vagina Monologues,” a student-led production of the play based on playwright Eve Ensler’s interviews with more than 200 women, 7:30 p.m., Ramseyer Auditorium, College Hall. Tickets are $10, with all proceeds benefiting Open Arms Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services in Findlay.

Feb. 13: “Leadership within Athletic Departments: Examining Sports Programs’ Success,” by Heather Bruder, assistant professor of sport management and chair of Bluffton’s health, fitness and sport science department, 4 p.m., Stutzman Lecture Hall, Centennial Hall.

Feb. 15: Winter Instrumental Concert, 2:30 p.m., Yoder Recital Hall.

Feb. 17: Student Senate presidential debate, 11 a.m., Founders Hall.

Feb. 22: Masterworks Concert, featuring a performance of Haydn’s “Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo” and the high school senior finalists in Bluffton’s Performing Scholar Competition, 2:30 p.m., Yoder Recital Hall.

Feb. 24: “Inspiring Commitment to Social Issues Through Theatre Education,” by Dr. Jo Beth Gonzalez, director of theatre at Bowling Green High School and president of the American Alliance for Theatre and Education, 11 a.m., Founders Hall.

Feb. 27: “Parsing the Palate: A Mixed Methods Analysis of the U.S. Food Advocacy Network,” by Dr. Matthew Friesen, assistant professor of sociology at Bluffton, 4 p.m., Stutzman Lecture Hall, Centennial Hall.

Students get the degree

University announces Dean’s list

Ohio Christian University students, Chelsea Burkholder, of Bluffton, and Amanda Couts, of Van Wert, were listed on the Dean’s list for the 2014 fall semester.

Annual lecture announced

The sixth annual Sebok Pharmacy Lecture established by the Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy will feature Peggy Piascik, the 2013-14 president of the American Association of Colleges and Pharmacy and current professor of pharmacy practice and science at the University of Kentucky, in the ONU Freed Center for the Performing Arts at 1 p.m. Feb. 13.

The event is free and open to the public.

Law school features presentation

Ohio Northern University’s Pettit College of Law will present the 2015 Kormendy Lecture in the Large Moot Court Room on at 12:30 p.m. Feb. 16. The program will include Joseph William Singer, Bussey professor of law at Harvard Law School.
